My Rocksmith 2014 Greatest Hits

Here’s my Rocksmith 2014 “Greatest Hits” after about two and a half weeks. Obviously, they’re some of my favorite songs in the game (or ones I’ve downloaded) and I’ve played them quite a bit. It took me a few hours to figure out why these numbers were low are getting 70% accuracy and higher in songs. These are the mastery percentages, how much of the all the notes in the song I can actually play. The first few times  you play a song in Rocksmith, not all of the notes are shown. If I’m showing pretty high accuracy, Rocksmith will adjust on the fly and start showing more notes and things like chords, slides, hammer-ons, etc. Eventually, you can reach Mastery Mode where you have to play the song strictly from memory.

So far, I’ve been playing 60-90 minutes a day I’m really enjoying this “game.” My fret fingers are definitely getting more calloused and flexible so hopefully these numbers will go up quite a bit over the next few weeks. Maybe after a few years I’ll be shredding like this guy:

Rocking on with Rocksmith

It’s been about a week since I started the 60-day challenge on Rocksmith 2014 and so far I’ve enjoyed just about every moment of it! There is still one lesson I’m having trouble passing because the game doesn’t seem to hear my G string correctly. I never really had much fun practicing on my acoustic guitar, but I genuinely look forward to my daily hour with Rocksmith. I still play over the 60 minutes at times, often until my fretting fingers are sore.

Rocksmith 2014 – My 60 Day Challenge

As I mentioned in my last post, one of my favorite gifts I received this year was a copy of Rocksmith 2014 for my PS3. With a new year dawning just a few days ago, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to pick an awesome New Year’s resolution… learn to play the guitar. So I opted to participate in Rocksmith’s 60 Day Challenge. What is Rocksmith?

From the Rocksmith website:

Rocksmith teaches you how to play fast and effectively by letting you plug any real guitar or bass* directly into your Xbox 360® games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Windows® PC or Mac.

Rocksmith becomes your personal guitar teacher as it monitors how you play, dynamically adjusts the difficulty to your skill level, then slowly introduces more notes and phrases until you’re playing your favorite songs note-for-note.

Rocksmith makes guitar and bass practice fun because it’s built by Ubisoft – one of the world’s largest video game developers. Built-in scoring, goals, and mini-games take away the pain of drills and repetition. Rocksmith teaches you to play so fast because it makes learning guitar both fun and interactive.
