Yup, that’s me. Temps were in the 90’s today and the pool finally looked clean enough to jump in, so I did! The water temp was a cool 75 degrees, perhaps a little chillier than I was expecting, but it still felt good.
The water is almost perfectly clear in our pool now. We can see straight to the bottom now, and the greenish tint is gone. We’ve got two small hairline cracks in our pool filter, so we’ll need to replace it this season. I’ve applied some plastic expoxy over the cracks, and it seems to be holding for now.
I couldn’t talk Joy into jumping into the pool. I think it might’ve been a little too chilly for her, are may she’s afraid I’d pull out the camera again. You can thank her for the picture above, and for a few more that I don’t dare show. As you can see from the picture, I need little more time out in the sun, and I definitely need a little more time on the home gym! 🙂
Sorry for the lack of posts recently, but Joy and I have been super busy with work, choir, freelance, bug club, and working on the house. We did take the pool cover off a few weeks back so that the pool could start circulating and we could get it ready for swim season.
That was a chore in itself. We had to drain what seemed like several hundred gallons of pollen filled water off the cover before we drug it off. Our buddy Spook was kind enough to come over and help out and show me how to operate the pool equipment (pumps, filters, and hoses).
After removing the cover, we realized that there are no lights in the pool! I guess we’ll only be able to swim under a full moon or install some kind of auxiliary lighting nearby. There’s also a hairline crack near the top of the pool filter (sand filled dome kind) and it leaks a smidge. Looks like we’ll need to replace that this season. Other than that, we’re looking forward to relaxing our troubles away in our “new” pool!
More pictures coming soon of the complete renovations on the house (I promise!). We’ve got the office painted and a new ceiling fan installed. We just have to clean our junk out of there so we can get some good pics. Check back soon!
In between painting projects inside the house, I’ve managed to sneak out to garage and get it cleaned enough to squeeze Pokey in. Now I’ll be able to work on him during nasty weather or when I’m tired of painting. I love the angle of this photo because with Pokey in the foreground he looks so much larger than the hole I’ve carved out for him.
I woke up early this morning to let Riggs out and it was so cold that there was a layer of ice on top of our pool! First we got snow, then we got our own skating rink.
We haven’t been in our home but about 3 weeks, and we woke up yesterday to find a blanket of fresh snow had fallen on our new home! It wasn’t much, it basically turned to slush in a few hours, but it was still a nice treat to get snow down here in ‘bama.
